We stayed in ATL this week for a show with our fellows musicians friends Common Ground Collective, Vinx & Julie Dexter.
One stop to do in ATLANTA is @ MOODS Music. A Music shop you want to live in. Eat in. Date in. Sleep in.The selection of music & videos are the MUST ! and the space ultra inviting. I remember buying my first 3 albums of Eric Roberson there.
Vinx & Les Nubians did a stop @ Moods Music for a little reunion/conference/Q&A hosted by Ken Rye, with the audience. We spoke about being Indies artists. About the importance of traveling worldwide. We spoke GLOBAL SOUL. Really cool reunion. Thanks again to MOODS MUSIC & DJ Dave Soul !
We had an great time in Atlanta, eating vegan food ( thanks to SOUL VEGETARIAN 2, great ginger root drink & food – we’ve been offered THE NEW SOUL VEGETARIAN COOK BOOK (BUY!)!(Read review by sister Assata Shakur) and to our sister JAMILA from EARTH CANDY for the interview and the amazing food she cooked for us – that Kale spicy Salad was off the hook !!!)
We visited Jazz 91.9 FM WCLK where director Aaron Cohan warmly received us – again ! Great Thanks !, for the Morning Drive show, hosted by Morris Baxter. Always a pleasure to listen to this amazing broadcast who plays all the music we love, like our friend, caribbean jazz saxophone player Jacques Schwartz-Bart.
Les Nubians were invited by the Alliance Française in Atlanta to meet the young students of the Intown Academy in Atlanta/L’Ecole Intown d’Atlanta ( The Intown Academy on Facebook). This amazing school is a community based public charter school that opened Aug 9th, 2010. The school offers Atlanta Parents a neighborhood school that provides children with a safe, quality and rigorous learning environment, and FRENCH CLASS, taught from kindergarden to 7th grade. Les Nubians answered hundreds of kids’s questions, sang for them a capella, taught them their song “DEMAIN” and danced AFRODANCE in a Soul Train Style !!!
Thanks to all the Intown Academy students, teachers and principal Lola Burse & Melissa Mason, Helene Courault-Touré de l’Alliance Française in Atlanta. The flowers are in a vase at home and we will wear our tee-shirts with pride and great memories of this special moment ! MERCI BEAUCOUP !
